A Conspiracy of Compassion:A 21st-Century Look at the Primal Vow
The diversity and pace of the internet age challenges the richness of Shinran’s teachings to be appreciated in its original form. Reframing the Primal Vow in a familiar language may engage the new or lost seeker. This presentation will offer new metaphors as an entry to the traditional teachings. Upaya/Hoben (skillful means) invites the seeker to persist in pursuing the true path.

Dr. Akahoshi is a graduate of IBS and received his Tokudo ordination in Kyoto. He has been conducting annual retreats and workshops since 1998 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, and Spokane, WA. He conducts monthly discussions at the San Jose Betsuin. His masters degree in transpersonal (spiritual) psychology prepared him to emphasize the experiences of the participants to assure the relevancy of the workshops. His experiences include guiding wilderness vision quests and other body-mind-spirit disciplines. His past activities at the San Jose Buddhist Betsuin include being Board President, Dharma School teacher, and Education Chairman.
